Drs. Uzoma and Arthur Nwaubani are both Florida-based, board certified surgeon/ physicians. They juggle their extremely busy medical careers and lives with their love of farming and down to Earth existence. At their Edenwood Farms and Ranch in Florida, they have created a thriving and self-sustainable ecosystem of organic plant and animal farming. They raise their own chickens, turkeys, guinea fowls, pigs, goats, sheep, cows, and fish. The current 5 acres of land they dedicate to the cultivation and growing of Nsukkadrilus is organically maintained with rich manure from their animal farm.
Drs. Arthur and Uzoma are blessed with four children and love working together. In 2010, they moved to Florida after completing our sub-specialty medical fellowship training in New Jersey. Soon after, we bought our farm in 2012 and named it Edenwood Farms and Ranch. We grow all our vegetables on the farm and raise domestic livestock.
The pepper business came unexpectedly. I planted some original Nigerian Nsukka species hot pepper in 2014 and had a bumper harvest like no other. We had four standing freezers full of refreshing peppers. That year, we hosted my husband’s college fraternity alumni at our farm for their annual conference. I decided to make a sauce out of my peppers, can them, and gave it to whoever came to the event as a parting gift.
As an avid farmer, I had always pickled and canned all my overflow vegetables. After the convention, my phone rang continuously for a week. My friends’ wives tasted the pepper sauce and went berserk. It had such great reviews that they wanted a regular supply of it. So after that first year of success, we decided to expand our farm to where we are currently planting five acres of pepper. We named it OSEIBO hot pepper sauce which means IBO pepper. Last year, Edenwood was made an LLC, and we registered OSEIBO with US Gus two years ago.
Originally, the peppers came from Iboland, Nigeria, in a town called Nsukka. Our pepper sauce comes in red and yellow varieties in a quart or pint-sized. We have bar codes for each type and a case of twelve of each size and color. We can the pepper sauce in a jar and stays good for three years if unopened and stored in a cool, dry place.
The pepper sauces are fully cooked and can be used as a dip or added to any dish to enhance its flavor. Nutritional value is included in its labeling. Our processing plant is located at our Florida Edenwood Farms and is run and managed by our family.
